My work is a mix of abstraction and observation. In both my oil paintings and my works on paper, I depict clothing and the organic forms they create as a stand in for a body. I create a still life of clothing and further abstract the forms and patterns by flattening space and altering color. These works directly represent our body’s outer shell that we use to present ourselves to the world. The abstraction and absence of the body explores intimacy and connection between beings, especially at a time when human connection is scarce.
